Jewellery With History
This unique handcrafted solid silver bangle is made from a set of vintage sterling silver sugar tongs. There is a delicate swirl detail forming a raised pattern on four points with three pronged claws at either end.
There are import hallmarks on the piece which are accompanied by an up to date Sheffield Hallmark for your guarantee of quality. These tongs originally came from the USA where hallmarking laws are very different from our own here in the UK.
This bangle is made from vintage silverware and as a result often has signs of its previous life which forms part of its character.
What you get
This piece comes boxed and ready to give as a gift.
The internal diameter of the bangle is 7.3cm and this can be adjusted slightly to fit.
The bangle measures 14mm at highest point and 3.4mm at lowest point and weighs 24g.
Spoon rings originated in 17th century England and were originally used as wedding rings. Servants could not afford to have wedding rings made of precious metals so they would steal the silverware from the manor houses and have them turned into wedding rings. For a time you could tell who the servants were working for by the crest on their rings.
