I've made this solid silver bangle from a set of antique sterling silver sugar tongs. The hand original hand engraved scrolling pattern can be seen across the majority of the piece.
It bears the original hallmarks on the inside and the certificate from The Assay Office which accompanies the bangle confirms the original date of manufacture to be Sheffield 1910 - it's 111 years old.
This bangle is made from vintage silverware and as a result often has signs of its previous life which forms part of its character.
What you get
Each bangle will be accompanied by a change of use certificate from The Assay Office and comes boxed and ready to give as a gift.
Size
The internal diameter of the bangle is 6.8cm and this can be adjusted slightly to fit.
Dimensions
The bangle measures 30mm at its widest point and 3.9mm at the narrowest and weighs 25.3g.
Origins
Spoon rings originated in 17th century England and were originally used as wedding rings. Servants could not afford to have wedding rings made of precious metals so they would steal the silverware from the manor houses and have them turned into wedding rings. For a time you could tell who the servants were working for by the crest on their rings.
